Services

Evidence-based therapy designed around your goals.
Therapy services that are flexible, accessible, and tailored to your needs.

15 Minutes Free Consultation

The 15-minute consultation is an opportunity to get to know the therapist and explore the services offered, how to book and support to manage the online service, or arrange in-person sessions.

During this brief session, you can ask questions, discuss your needs, and clarify how therapy might support you. This consultation is not a therapy session and does not include assessment or treatment, but it helps you decide whether the approach, format, and style are right for you.

It is ideal for anyone considering therapy, wanting to understand the process, or seeking guidance on which programme might best suit their goals, or simply check if we can build a collaborative therapeutic relationship together.

Initial Assessment

To start working therapeutically with me, in your first booked session we will conduct an assessment of your difficulties and needs, this is a 50 minutes session in which we will cover goals for therapy, what you want to achieve, and what type of therapy may be suitable for you.

The initial assessment (1–4 sessions) is the first step in your therapy journey at Door to Therapy. It includes a comprehensive mental health assessment, including risk assessment, to ensure your safety and wellbeing.

We begin with an assessment phase to:

  • Understand your difficulties and goals in depth
  • Develop a personalised treatment plan
  • History and risk assessment
  • Identify the most effective therapeutic approach for you
  • Agree on the structure and length of therapy and suitability of the service

Together, we determine the most effective therapeutic approach, structure, and agree on length of therapy and need for treatment. This assessment provides a clear foundation for either a brief therapy programme or ongoing support, ensuring sessions are focused, practical, and tailored to your needs.

Once you are in treatment, you do not need to book the assessment again, unless you pause or end therapy and later return after a reasonable cooling-off period (1 month).

Brief & Standard Therapy Programmes

This is my core approach and where my expertise lies. After we complete the initial assessment together, we determine the right structure for your therapy. Research shows that most people make meaningful progress in brief, focused therapy. We work collaboratively, tracking your progress together and adjusting as needed.

Typical structure depending on presenting difficulties:

  • General wellbeing, mood (mild anxiety, low mood, stress): 1-6 sessions
  • Focused issues (specific phobias, life transitions, decisions, relational conflicts): 4-8 sessions
  • Complex patterns (OCD, relationship difficulties, work stress): 12-18 sessions
  • More complex presentations may require longer support

Flexibility: We review progress regularly and adjust the approach as needed. I recommend being consistent in frequency from weekly to fortnightly depending on need.

Pre-session preparation: I often send psychometric questionnaires (GAD-7, PHQ-9) that may help us determine the effectiveness of the treatment, relationship and approach.

Single Session Therapy (SST) & One-at-a-Time (OAAT)

FEATURED APPROACH

Single Session Therapy is an intentional, collaborative approach where we work together with the express purpose of helping you address your chosen concern in one focused session, while knowing that additional sessions are available if you need them.

This approach is ideal if you're:

  • Seeking focused support for a specific issue
  • Looking for clarity or practical strategies you can implement immediately
  • Wanting to try therapy before committing to a longer programme
  • Facing a particular challenge or decision

How it works: From the first moment, we focus on what you want to take away from the session. Rather than extensive assessment or case history, we clarify your goal, work on discovering potential solutions, and develop a concrete plan you can implement. You leave with clear takeaways tailored to your specific needs.

Approach: Single session is about talking about solutions. It is at times slightly more directive than traditional therapy, so I may interrupt your train of thought if it is not serving the goals for the session. It is however a sympathetic approach to your wants and needs, in a space that will not only make you feel listened to but you will reflect on your own resources available to help tackle your issues, no matter how deep or complicated they appear to be before the session.

Pre-session preparation: You'll receive an optional preparation form to help you get the most from your session, and some information to determine the suitability for carrying out this mode of therapy.

After your session, you decide what happens next. You may find one session gave you what you needed. Or you might choose to book another single session, agree to a short block of sessions, or continue with ongoing therapy, it's entirely your choice.

Specialised Therapy Programmes

After initial assessment it will be determined if you require access to a more specialised format of treatment. These treatments are evidence-based and are used to address complex difficulties.

EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing)

Helps process trauma and distressing memories, typically over 8–12 sessions.

DBT (Dialectical Behaviour Therapy)

Focuses on building core skills for emotion regulation, distress tolerance, interpersonal effectiveness, and mindfulness.

Trauma-Focused Therapy

Provides a safe, structured approach to explore and process traumatic experiences, reduce emotional distress, and develop coping strategies.

All treatments are tailored to your needs and delivered at a pace that suits you. Specialist treatment sessions can vary in length from 50 to 90 minutes depending on therapeutic modality and programme (e.g. EMDR sessions are typically 90 minutes).

Note: There is limited availability during 2026 to offer these services as I tend to only work with a few patients during the year with these approaches. Some require in-person sessions and arranging a space to meet around London.

Psychological assessments are available on request to inform treatment planning and provide clarity on specific difficulties. They may require extra costs depending on the need.
